CULTURAL LONDON- Friday 27th-Saturday 28th January 2017
Home to many group friendly attractions, London is a fascinating city to explore; where cosmopolitan districts intertwine with historically important landmarks which are recognisable worldwide. The capital has something for everyone and this Familiarisation trip offers Group Organisers and Tour Operators the chance to experience the more cultural aspects of the city.
Day one: Guests booked on to the fam trip will receive a warm welcome from the 4 star Best Western Palm Hotel situated in North West London. This stylish yet comfortable hotel, offers luxury facilities to take advantage of. As the hotel is the groups first meeting point for the day a Buzlines coach will be waiting outside for a prompt departure once the group have assembled. If travelling by public transport, it may be easier to meet the group at the V&A Museum. (Please notify us if you’d like to take advantage of this option.)
The Victoria & Albert Museum was founded in 1852 and is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design. This impressive building will be the first stop of the day, where the group will be welcomed by a knowledgeable guide, a hot drink and piece of cake. A highlights tour of the museum will give the group a taste of the beautiful building which houses permanent collections from all over the world, originally established to educate and inspire the working people.
A short walk from the V&A Museum will take the group to the Royal Albert Hall which has been entertaining the world and inspiring creativity since 1871. Since its opening by Queen Victoria, the world's leading artists from every kind of performance genre have appeared on its stage. Upon arrival, guests will be taken to the Hall’s charming restaurant – Verdi, where a snack lunch of pizza, calzones, olives, bread sticks, salad, and classic Italian desserts will be provided. As well as a tour around this iconic Victorian landmark taking in the Royal Retiring Room, breathtaking views from the gallery and stunning auditorium, a 15 min presentation will be given to show the variety of group products on offer.
You won’t find yourself in a sticky wicket at the next destination. Lords Cricket Ground* will host the group and provide pitch side views with a behind the scene tour of the grounds. The coach will chauffeur the group back to the hotel so guests can get ready for a night on the town in Covent Garden for dinner and an evening of entertainment.
Founded in London’s West End in 1979, Garfunkel’s restaurants have been serving up classic British and international dishes to the Nation ever since. Embracing the concept of being all things to all people, it epitomises all that is great in international cuisine. Dinner will be provided here before the group take their seats a top West End show.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast at the hotel the group will travel to Alexandra Palace for Excursions 2017, where new inspiration and ideas for group itineraries await. Explore the new Christmas and food & drink themed areas, sample some food or even enjoy a sample of beer or real ale in the ‘Pop up Pub’ provided by Nicholson’s Group. You can even take part in a ticketed tutored wine tasting session organised by Denbies Vineyard, the largest vineyard in England.
Guests on the FAM trip gain exclusive access to a feature area at Excursions, this year celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Jane Austen’s Death, regency dancing and a strong Hampshire presence will be amongst the lively activities going on within the private area.
Excursions is a whole day event, giving you time to chat to destinations, attractions and coach companies about your group visits. But we hope to take you on a behind the scenes tour of Alexandra Palace itself as part of their renovation project before departing on the coach to get back to the hotel where the FAM trip will end.
